Are you visiting Palmerston North and looking for something interesting and unique to do?

We are a family owned and operated certified organic dairy farm in the Manawatu, between Palmerston North and Feilding.

We introduced the robots to our Friesian cows in July 2016.  Our clever, contented cows now walk to and from the milking shed voluntarily to milk themselves. Cows are creatures of habit and they choose their own milking time pattern, day or night.  After milking they stroll, in their own time, to a fresh paddock.

If you are looking for a grassroots farm visit for your club, your business, a group of family and friends, or are you an agritourism operator looking for a grassroots experience to offer?  We also offer free farm visits for NZ schools.  Check out the Visiting our Farm page for more information or send us an email.

Get ready for an exciting adventure on The Free Range, Robotic Dairy Farm! "Midnight Mooovers" tells the delightful tale of Tinkly and Smoochy, our charming cows who discover the thrill of freedom when they find the paddock gate wide open in the middle of the night. With their newfound independence, these happy cows can milk when they choose to and mooove at their own pace!

After a sell-out of the first print run, Amy revamped the story in 2024 to showcase our farm's certified organic (Biogro) status.  The book is 100% NZ made and printed. Written by Amy, beautifully illustrated by South Islander Rick Menard and printed in New Zealand.

Don’t miss out—order your copy today by emailing robotfarmnz@gmail.com or click here to order! Just $15 each (plus postage).

Our star of the book Smoochy is now 15 years old. She is retired from milking however Smoochy absolutely thrives with daily cuddles and pats, so she stays with the herd and her curiosity and friendliness has her staying around the milking shed when visitors arrive.
